Pockets or Brains?

It appears according to NCAE the Senate and the House have different views on teachers pay and teacher assistants.  If the State get their way, teachers will not receive a 2% raise and teacher assistants will need to find another job.  If the House gets its way, teachers will see a raise and teacher assistants will be able to keep a job for now but only in the areas of Exceptional Children and K-1.  How is it possible for the Senate to receive a raise and the people who have taught their children and the grandchildren to read and write continue to struggle and fight for 2%.  Yes, 2%.  Why can't NC teachers be given what they are worth?  If you want the best, let's pay to keep the best.  Once upon a time, teachers were put on a peddle stool and given the highest in respect.  What has happen? Senate are you saying that filling your pockets are more important than a teacher filling a brain with knowledge?  Just saying!
