Free, reduced lunch rate predicts success in high school sports

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/high-school/article28760731.html

Education Week (2011) stated that a student who can't read and comprehend by 3rd grade plus poverty stricken is 13 times less likely to graduate on time than their wealthier peers.  No according to the Charlotte Observer (July 2015) schools that are high in free and reduced lunch struggle with winning titles in sports like tennis, golf, and swimming.  In North Carolina schools 39 of 48 team champions were from schools with less than 40% of free and reduced lunch rate. (Charlotte Observer, 2015).  It appears the economic status is the driving force and we as Americans are failing tremendously in this area.  This is definitely not a fair playing field.  Not only should the gap in education become smaller, but the gap in economic status needs to be more equal as well.  Someones economic status should not define or determine a students success academically and athletically.  Why can't we ALL just get along in order to prosper in all aspects in life.

Dee's world...anything, everything...let's talk about it!
